I was born in Fort William, Ontario and moved to Toronto when I was five years old. I lived in Toronto for 35 years and moved to Ottawa in 2005.
I started my career as a news paper reporter and news photographer, where I worked for a couple of independent papers, did two tours of duty for the Metroland chain in the Greater Toronto Area and also worked as a political reporter for The Toronto Star.
I crossed over to the dark side, to public relations and have worked in both the private and public sector.
I continued to shoot sporadically since leaving professional shooting but picked up a DSLR in 2007 and have been actively pursuing photography as a hobby ever since. I try to get out as often as I can and I'm still learning, as digital photography, I find, is quite different from old school 'emulsion' photography.
So while I enjoy my career work, I'm just waiting for National Geographic to call me up and offer me a full time gig. :P (in my dreams - but I wouldn't turn down CP, Reuters or AP either).
I would like to say a big thanks to my girlfriend and love of my life, Nancy, for continuing to inspire me .
